I have a 1991 Explorer, and just wondering if any of you have any ideas for a simple custom gauge application?

like clusters out of a luxury car or newer expedition or some crap Neat and Cheap ideas pls

:icon_confused:

Outside of major mods there is no cluster that matches. You can check other threads where some very nice custom dashes have been installed.

not really looking for a direct fit, willing and capable of doing some electronics and fab work, just don't was HUGE project, would like something of a weekend project or something. if that changes anything

thank you for the post

just get some custom aurora gauges? you can custome make them for yourself and your style. they are like autometers

thanks, looking for a little lower budget than that

lol, yea they arent cheap man, are you wanting to swap the WHOLE cluster? like the style? shape? like out of an entire different make and model?

you can pick up autometer gauges, speedo, tach, oil temp, and fuel for like $300

other than that, i dont think theres gonna be anything you can really do to them, maybe change the leds behind it and paint it up

yea i TOTALLY forgot about dolphin gauges... hmmm i may look into some of those other than autometers

I did a Taurus digital cluster swap. $30 for the cluster, $8 for the temp sender, and $5 for some push button switches. The hardest part is probably the Fab work (need to run a few more wires to the cluster area, including one line previously untapped from the computer)

There's also this one from an 89 Cougar that I found and have thought about:

Lots of higher end Lincoln late 80's cars had digital clusters you could pilfer and mod to fit as well.

Yeah, Taurus. That's what I'm looking for. Something that can be robbed from a wrecking yard cheap. that looks real nice, Great work!!

anyone know of other fords that are digital like the taurus, years and models. Sticking to Ford would prob be easiest.

Thanks guys
