what type gauge do i need to check fuel pressure for 2.9.
I still got the dead spot at 1500 rpm range, next check will be to change the computer, and check fuel pressure.

tests completed :
tps passed ohm test
checked for vacuum leaks - none found.
road tested with intake hose loose - no change
checked timing and it was advanced too much, reset at 10 degree and seemed to make it worse, had a few small backfires taking off until speed was up - umm ?
could a plugged injector cause this ?

You will need a fuel pressure tester for EFI [electronic fuel injection]. Your local parts place may have one on a free loaner program.
When you checked your timing, did you remove the spout plug? It's a little thing that looks like an inline fuse and IIRC it's on the passenger side near the firewall. Pulling the spout makes your computer run base timing so that the timing can be checked properly.
