I am looking to install newer gauges into my 2000 ranger 4x4. I pulled a cluster out of a 2004 at a local scrap yard. As they have different connectors I grabbed the pigtails from the donor 2004. Aside from physical differences is there anything that prevents me from wiring these into the existing harness and running the 2004 gauges in the 2000?

Yeah, they're driven completely different (they changed body modules and how they work completely), you need one from an older version. I don't remember the year break but it's around '02 when things changed but you should be able to grab a cluster from a '95 until that year and make sure the connectors are the same.

You can include Explorers to the mix too, I have a cluster from a '98 Explorer in my '97 Ranger...

Thank you for your qick reply I I will go back and see what is out there in that year range.

If your just looking for a visual difference, I'm sure there are some overlays out there.
