So a little while ago (like months) one of the metal straps that go under the gas tank rusted through, so i took it off. I was wondering if I should get another before the other one goes too. Any advice?:icon_confused:

Yes!!! Get another one on asap. One should hold up long enough to get another put on. Go to a salvage yard if a new one cost too much. If the last one on there is in good shape you should be ok. Don't get too wild with your driving though, Bro.

Yea, I wouldn't play around with that, get a new strap asap. A full tank of gas weighs a surprising amount - just relying on one strap could damage your tank. I think Raybuck has 'em for like $20 plus shipping or somethin like that, not sure what others have it for. www.raybuck.com

holy hell that is not good. like cat said you need a new strap asap. imagine if the tank were to fall out while driving then the rear axle hit it causing it to crack and leak and also causing massive sparks as you drag it down the highway and then it explodes causing vesuvian like explosions

My advice is to not drive around with only one tank strap. There are 2 of them for a reason. Kinda like how there are 2 doors, or four brakes, etc.

Do you like bonfires? I do, but not under my truck. Get a new strap!

Considering that one is rusted through, I'd replace them both...and maybe do a bit of sanding, prime painting and using rust paint...it sure goes a long way to keep them from going again...mine are still like new...and I've already had to replace one gas tank due to rust...

But while you're under there you might want to give a good look around at the rest of the frame and underside...

Did your truck come from another state? FL doesn't seem to be in the rust belt from what I know of it...

Nope. I'd leave it just like that :icon_rofl:

Maybe weld the tank in so it will stay? :icon_welder: :icon_hornsup:

No. Go buy two new straps. You may need a new tank. Why are you asking this question. :shok:

Yeah I was definitely thinking those things. The truck is from NY, I'm really holding out to get a job so I can replace it. It's totally going south pretty fast. I'm thinking in a of months I should have a newer ranger to play with
