gas mileage. help

ok i have my 3.0 5speed ranger. getting high 20's for mileage.
we recently picked up a 97 ranger 2.3 5speed with 80k miles for my girl friend. after the first tank of gas the check engine light came on and it said we had a bad 02 sensor. she is only getting right over 20's for gas mileage. i was expecting atleat high 20's like mine. would a bad o2 sensor kill the gas mileage?
what are you guys getting for mileage?

A bad O2 sensor WILL have a negative impact on fuel economy. My truck has NEVER done better than about 25 mpg, even with my foot out of it.

I got 29mpg two or three times, averaged 26ish back when my truck was a lot smaller...

My 95 with a 2.3 and a 5 speed will get 25-26 mpg with all highway driving. around town its about 18. I DO have a lead foot, so the around town is higher when my wife drives. Come to think of it, she always gets better mpgs than me in any of our cars.

gotcha ill get that o2 replaced and let you know what happens

My 91 4X4 get 23 all the time in town never dive in on the highway so I am not sure on that.

My 88 2.3 w/5 speed gets 22 city, 26 hwy.

My 91 gets 24-25 and that is a combination of highway and around town. I don't accel hard but average and usually run 5-10 over the speed limit. I could prolly get better if I ran the speed limit.

well idk if anyones had this problem but on her truck the 02 wires drooped down onto the friveshaft and all got cut so it was a free fix to wire them back up. No more CEL and ill have to ask her what its getting for mileage now.
