Gas Gauge always reads empty

My 96 4x4 Ranger King Cab gas gauge is stuck on empty. I'm not sure how to check if it's actually a gauge problem, the float is stuck, or a sender issue. How do I check?
 
Well you can pretty much assume it's the float cracked and sunk. It's a well known happening....
 
Do you have a favorite site to purchase parts like the float/sender unit?
