If it aint broke, give it more gas!
Anybody have any info on the G-Force chips for the pushrod 4.0? I have a 98 Ranger w/ a 4.0, running a K&N "cone" filter and a Flowmaster cat back. I have a super chip that I got for it years ago, and maybe I got a little more power, but the milage gains I was expecting did not happen. And with gas costs being what they are, I took it out. Does the G-Force chip do any better than the Superchip? I need to see 24 MPG to justify having to buy premium fuel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Spiky :icon_confused:

1. why do you need to buy premium fuel??
2. i doubt the g-force is any better than the superchip. i've actually heard a lot more positive about the superchip but personally idk. i was wondering if any of them would be worth the money.

I'm skeptical about "chips" .........but for $50.......even if I got 1 mpg better...it would pay for itself in 2 weeks.....LOL....(I keep my vehicles tuned....which reminds me....time to eyeball the sparkplugs this spring).

The REAL problem is (but don't tell anybody) is that the earl companies are "cutting the quality of the gasoline". I keep a close watch on fuel mileage, and for the last year my mpg's have been dropping in my car, truck, and motorcycle.....SMELLS LIKE A RATTTT IN THE GAS PUMP!

I thought you might be interested in this video and the comments from the individual who posted it on Youtube. Those chips are worthless.

BTW, to view it on Youtube, just click on their logo in the bottom right corner.

Thanks.....pretty wild. Guess its just time to do the 5.0 upgrade and be done with it!

The super chip said it had to run premium fuel with it installed.

^^^What he said, Bro....why pay for the stupid over priced premium gas??? Highway driving I get 24 mpg on my 99 lifted Ranger running 33x12.5 KO tires.....I use 87 octane!!!! I just filled up my Ranger yesterday afternoon and it was $3.75 for the 87!!! I had 359 miles on the trip-odometer since my last fill up and I added 13.3 gallons of gas. Not bad for a lifted Ranger with the 4.0!!!! A lot of that milage was around town too!!! I had to run a bunch of errands.
