i was looking into the fx4 shifter swap and how much do thes things go for ?

and what do you get when you order it from the dealer , do you get the crome shifter, boot and shifter nobe.

I shouldn't even be chiming in about something to do with appearance but... swapping into what? Just the boot, shifter, and knob?

But there should be plenty of information useful to you in this thread, including part #'s and prices.

edit: for some reason I just thought of transfercases when I read fx4 shifter... forgot there's two :icon_twisted:

if you go to the dealer you'll pay way more then its worth your best bet would to check local junkyards for them i got my shifter and transfer case shifter the boot and the chrome tow hooks for 100$ from a junkyard 2 weeks ago

The FX4 shifter is ENTIRELY about appearance.

The Hurst billet plus looks nearly as good, but it mostly about function.

The FX4 shifter is basically a "prettified" factory shifter and subject to all the same functional flaws.

The Hurst is just outstanding for function and eliminates the issues with the plastic "springs" (Bushings).

I've sold one without the ball or boot for $125. Sold another without the boot for $165. I priced out parts from Ford a while back.....the ball retails for $125 or so. JUST the ball. The arm was upwards of $250 possibly more. It's been a while since I priced them.

Honestly, Hurst blows the Fx4 shifter out of the water. I've had one for years. I only bought the Fx4 trans shifters for resale. Got 'em with the tcase shifter, twinstick bezel, boots, etc. Shoot...they paid for my Fx4 tcase swap and interior piece swaps. Shoot...I've got an Fx4 ball on my Hurst. FTW!

For what it's worth, the Fx4 ball kicks a stock rangers ball or a stock hurst balls balls.

so i'm not going to get two far ahead of my self here i still need to get a truck lol...

but every one i drive i dissliked bending/made of rubber feeling of the shifter when shifting.

same size and shape as the fx4 ball (which is very comfy btw) but a hell of a lot cheaper!

^^ i like that idea. how did you get them to stay on?

just drilled them as close to the size of the splines as i could, then used a little RTV to hold them tight. you can yank them back off when you need to, clean them up and RTV them back on without problems.

Threads + Nuts > Splines + Glue

hehehehe.

Then get a hurst(when you get a truck. lol). Every ranger is like what you're describing really...big fat plastic stuff, huge rubber boot....except the top of the line Fx4's.
