I'm dreading this when I finally change out something to non-stock
Luckily any of the employees at any of the parts stores down here know quite a few things but then again there is a surplus of mechanics and stuff in south texas lol. Anyways I have noticed that down here AZ in particular has been hiring a lot of women...so not to speak ill of women but i've already run into some situations where I have to tell them they are wrong...
You think that's bad, try buying parts for a Merkur XR4Ti. I went to the Ford dealership to get the plugs and wires. The guy behind the counter looked at me like I had three eyes. I then told him, okay, fair enough, give me the same parts, but for a Mustang SVO. He then tried to sell me 8 plugs and 8 wires. I then had to tell him that while I was standing there, I changed my mind about which car I wanted to give a tuneup to, and I have an 88 Thunderbird with the turbo motor. Took him like 30 seconds to get me the plugs and wires.
When I ordered a clutch for the XR4, I got sent a strange clutch with a one piece slave/throwout assembly. It was nowhere near the size of what I needed or anything, plus an XR4 has a cable clutch just like a Mustang. I called the place back (mail order) and they said it was my fault because I ordered a clutch for a non-turbo XR4Ti. I spent 45 minutes arguing with the guy over the phone telling him that there is no such car in existence, and the T in XR4Ti stands for turbo. He eventually hung up on me, I still have the clutch, and I tried to file a complaint, but it got nowhere. Drivewire.com was the place, do NOT give them your business. I tried calling back on a different day, but the same dude answered the phone. Waste of $200. I should probably look up what car it is for, and sell it.
EDIT - It just came back to me. The box had the right part number on it, which is why the guy was so insistent drivewire.com sent me the right part. He didn't believe me that it had the wrong clutch kit in the box, and that's why I don't know what car it's for.
