Funniest Repair Orders you've seen?

I'm dreading this when I finally change out something to non-stock:icon_welder:
Luckily any of the employees at any of the parts stores down here know quite a few things but then again there is a surplus of mechanics and stuff in south texas lol. Anyways I have noticed that down here AZ in particular has been hiring a lot of women...so not to speak ill of women but i've already run into some situations where I have to tell them they are wrong...

You think that's bad, try buying parts for a Merkur XR4Ti. I went to the Ford dealership to get the plugs and wires. The guy behind the counter looked at me like I had three eyes. I then told him, okay, fair enough, give me the same parts, but for a Mustang SVO. He then tried to sell me 8 plugs and 8 wires. I then had to tell him that while I was standing there, I changed my mind about which car I wanted to give a tuneup to, and I have an 88 Thunderbird with the turbo motor. Took him like 30 seconds to get me the plugs and wires.

When I ordered a clutch for the XR4, I got sent a strange clutch with a one piece slave/throwout assembly. It was nowhere near the size of what I needed or anything, plus an XR4 has a cable clutch just like a Mustang. I called the place back (mail order) and they said it was my fault because I ordered a clutch for a non-turbo XR4Ti. I spent 45 minutes arguing with the guy over the phone telling him that there is no such car in existence, and the T in XR4Ti stands for turbo. He eventually hung up on me, I still have the clutch, and I tried to file a complaint, but it got nowhere. Drivewire.com was the place, do NOT give them your business. I tried calling back on a different day, but the same dude answered the phone. Waste of $200. I should probably look up what car it is for, and sell it.

EDIT - It just came back to me. The box had the right part number on it, which is why the guy was so insistent drivewire.com sent me the right part. He didn't believe me that it had the wrong clutch kit in the box, and that's why I don't know what car it's for.

Ive had that happen to me, bought the rotor for my duraspark conversion only to find the rotor that was in the box was for an 8 cylinder :dunno:

Got one....kinda. My friend told me about a 79 camaro he had when he was 13....used to burn rear tires off it left and right. Had an olds 350 rocket gold series, but he put 2.8 liter v6 heads on it to save gas....

No lie..this is what he told me.

Another guy I worked with built a 383 stroker, but he used the bottom end from a Chrysler 383 big block. Idiots....

Pictures speak a thousand words. Here's one I was given, on two trailers, a 53' flatdeck class b lead and its 48' train. I laughed really hard when I seen it. :icon_welder:

Hmmm... aluminum plate to steel rails?

300 feet of bimetallic strips and welding twice... 8 hours? extra cross members already in place to hold it all? welders can support the ridiculous work cycle expected? I wanna work there!

I love the 4 hour quote that's scratched off. Change of heart mayber? lol

I had an acquaintance of mine come up to my friend (also a ford guy) and I once and he told us that he thought that his oil pan had come off and was dragging on the ground. (obviously not the case, he made it in to classes that day. he's also a nugget short of a happy meal) So went out and looked at it to discover, it was only an exhaust heat shield that had come loose near the rear end that was dragging. we both just gave him the "you're an idiot" look. it was worth the laugh to look for him though.

Had a pretty good one earlier this week.

"In park or neutral engine will only rev to 3500 RPM then stay there"

Durrrr, rev limiter!

Then today we had a really good one:

Hit turtle and broke a fuel line.

Stuck it up in the air, and sure enough there is a big old chunk of turtle shell stabbed right into the fuel filter.

Had one a few weeks ago, car came in for its first oil change (still had its factory oil filter).

At 30,000 miles.

Not auto related, but hilarious.

At the shooting range, see a guy pull a rifle out of a case and set it up on the bench, firing about one shot every five minutes or so.

after about ten shots or so he starts screaming about how bullshit his gun is and starts chunking crap.

I walk over, it's an SKS, and it's got grease (cosmoline) pouring out of every hole, guys screaming that he just paid 400 dollars for the thing and it won't cycle.

I pop it open, sure enough, thing is still packed full of cosmoline, gas tube is full of it, action is full of it. I'm not even sure how the guy got it to fire.

"I thought it needed that for lube."

I've never wanted to pistol whip a grown man before, but i did that day.

it is a sad thing, but people like that are a big reason that many people want gun control...

AJ

That guy isn't why we "need" gun control.

He wouldn't be able to go on a shooting rampage. He's too stupid to operate the equipment.
