Does anyone offer FULL tailgate protector in aluminum or something with some strength?

I have a plastic one that works great. Plenty strong for what I do with it. I scrap metal and haul all kinds of shit.

Ive had my oem ford plastic bedliner and tailgate protector on for 10 years of hauling engines and all sorts of scrap. It's scratched to death but no cracks or dents. The bed and tailgate underneath look beautiful.

Another vote for the plastic tailgate protector and bedliner... The one in my 97 is original to the truck, and it is doing great.

A plastic one does me no good. I guess I will have to make another metal one

My corrugated plastic one was installed at the dealer in 1987 and is still going strong 31 years later with no damage to my gate.

I don't know what you are doing that makes it 'no good' but if I were in your position I'd head over Williamsport, and hit up Surplus City. They sell diamond plate and several other normally pricey metals cheap.

Sounds like you need reinforcement, not a cover. Find a metal shop and have them cut a piece of heavy diamond plate steel. Then bolt that on.

I currently have a 1/8" diamond plate one on my "old" 04. I was hoping someone made a full aluminum diamondplate one

Have you considered adamantium?

I use the truck. Kinked the tailgate in 2 spots

Sounds more like you "abuse" your truck instead of "use" if you kinked your tailgate twice. How do you even kink a tailgate other than getting in a wreck with a telephone pole in reverse at high speeds lol??? Wouldn't be hard to cut a piece of steel plate in a rectangle to cover your tailgate. Not trying to be a dick but it seems obvious.

I have an order in for some unobtainium. But it's on back order with no projected delivery date.

you may have to settle for Chinesium. it has made unobtanium obsolete due to its low cost.
