hello everyone im new to the site but ive been browsing on here for the past few weeks. i started my project less then 3 weeks ago and i should be wrapping up all the stuff to make it drivable this weekend. I started taking my truck apart and started a pile of suff that wont be reused the pile is now about 10 feet wide and 4 feet high. I ended up throwing out the stock frame stock suspension ball joints upper and lower a arms ac stuffs heater box and heater controls stock bed floor body mounts stock tranny tunnel all the emission stuff with the exception of the upstream 02 sensors stock rearend leaf springs rear bumper battery tray and wiring harnesss for the rear of the vehicle.

i started to build a new frame from scratch using 2x3 box tubing and manderel bent 1 inch pipe. Hardest part was measuring everything to get it all straight. Then i installed a triangulated 4 link and welded it to the new rear end using suep pivots . I had to remount my stock gas tank behind the axle to a cage that i built 4 it out on 1x1 steel. Then i installed the cab and made my own tranny tunnel since the tranny basically sits inside the cab. The air system i am using consists of 4 slam re7 bags 8 smc 3/8 valves and lines a viair 380 compressor and a 5 gallon air tank. The truck now sets the rockers onthe ground. I can reach out the window and drag my finger tips on the ground. The truk is tubbed for 22 inch wheels howerer all i have are the stock wheels for now. project has been fun as well as a pain in the ass. Just need to wrap a few things up this weekend and it will be ready to hit the road. I just need to figure out why my guages dont work other wise everything else should be wrapped up tomarrow. Ill post up pics when it is all done

Welcome to TRS, good luck finishing the build, hope you get those gauges figured out.

wow talk about doin work a complete SFBD in 3 weeks. I wish I had that much time to work on one of my trucks lol. Only comment I really have is I hope your not using "pipe" for any part of your chassis or suspension and hope you ment welded tube or DOM tube. Pipe is brittle and can snap.

What kind of front suspension did you end up using?

the pipe i used was not for any structual work only cosmetic. Im running modified djm uppers and lowers

hi,
could you do me a favor?
grab a tape and measure the width of the oem frame rails centerline front and back. and the centerline of the wheels front to back. i'm considering the use of a ranger frame to build a 56 f100.
where are you located?
maybe i can pay you some $$$. so i can haul off some of your spare parts.
thanks

wisconsin i have my measurements around here some were ill get back to you on those
