i have a new-to-me 94 ranger 2wd longbed, 2.3 engine, straps are bad and previous owner has put atv ratchet straps on to hold tank up to the frame, its the 15 gallon tank, my project ranger that rolled is a 97 3.0 longbed, but with a 20 gallon tank (and new straps) i was wondering if the tanks would change out so i could have a 20 gallon tank in the running truck, but i have no idea if the 94 pump will fit in the 97 tank, since they are both gen 3 trucks, both longbed, seems like there is a good chance it would work. would be a awesome driving range if i had 20 gallons instead of 15!

I tried checking the LMC website to see if the part numbers matched but they don't seem to list the 94 2.3 for some reason. The earlier 2.3 sending units match the number for some of the later 3.0 units (90-97) with part number 50-3113.

You might want to verify this but I'm almost certain they will fit both the sending units and the tank fit to the frame.

I had a bit of a problem with my 96 tank and had to remove the rear strap to move the tank out of the way when trying to fix the front tank strap.

Check out their website...or maybe someone who knows specifically can help more...

i think it might work too, i looked up parts on the autozone website and both the 94 2.3 and 97 3.0 had the same part number listed for fuel pump assemblies, didnt see a seperate designation for fuel tank size, but considering both are the same depth, tank size wouldnt be a issue, the 20 gallon tank is just longer

update: does indeed work, even with a extra crossmember on the "good" truck that wasnt even on the rolled truck. was able to use the good straps as well, used the pump that was in the smaller fuel tank since rolled truck gas guage didnt work. driving range? well i didnt drive it very much before i did this and very shortly after doing this swap i changed out my rear axle for one equipped with 4.10's (had 3.45's) . still nice to have more fuel. the rolled truck has since had the frame cut at tranmission crossmember and made into a trailer. ive been taking pictures but with the photobucket issue ive not been able to do a build thread on that. one of these days when i have alot of time i need to find another photo hosting site so i can post pictures again.

Good to hear you got everything to work together...so many little things to work through on some modifications but usually well worth the effort.

I know the photobucket fiasco has been a real pain but if you haven't seen this post by Richard he put quite a bit of effort into finding alternative solutions. I haven't bothered with it myself because I'm under the limit radar and most of my old posts with photos are just slipping farther into the abyss...

Anyway, without further yammering...:)

Hope that helps when you need it...if you need it.
