I'm having some issues with my fuel pressure in my 2000 Ranger 5.0L. It has stalled out on me a few times while driving. The pressure drops from 57psi to 20psi randomly when this happens. I may have to change the fuel pump assembly. The Ranger was originally a 3.0L flex fuel, so it has a special fuel pump that is compatible with ethanol.
I was wondering if I can just by a pump assembly for a 2000 Mountaineer 5.0 (what the motor came from) and use that since it is no longer a flex fuel vehicle. The flex fuel pump is $100 more. If the 5.0 pump installs the same way with the same fittings, it would be better for me to go that route.
Are they interchangeable?
