I have a 1971 4cylinder Ranger and cannot get the fuel to run. I can shoot gas into the top of the engine and get it to run, but nothing from that gas tank. I have looked for the filter and the fuel pump but cannot find them. Fuel pump in the gas tank? I am lost. I need a manuel on this truck, but again do not know were to look.

ok first im going to assume your 71 is actually a 91,second the fuel pump is inside the tank, youre fuel filter is located on on the drivers side frame rail right underneath the drivers seat, you will need a speacial tool to get the fuel lins ooff the filter, the tool can be had at your parts store for about 9$.

Yes, it is 1991, and thank you very much.

make sure before you go replacing the fuel pump, you check the fuse/relay for it...sometimes the stupidest thing will stop your truck from running and it'd sure suck to replace that fuel pump and it still not run...

And don't forget the inertia switch where the passenger's toes hit (pull back the top of the carpet). You can jumper its two wires if it is suspect. It also has a reset button on top.
