I disconnected the switch to relieve the fuel pressure and when I go to crank the engine, it starts up :icon_confused: I'm about 95% sure I got the right plug. It's at the passenger's feet, underneath the glove box, a two-wire connector going into a black piece of plastic about 1 square inch. I took the connector off and apparently it's still pumping because it will start and run. What's going on here?

That sounds like the inertia switch. I'm not positive but I think there'd still be pressure until you run it down or relieve the pressure at the fuel rail. There should be a Schrader valve [looks like tire pressure valve], depress the center to relieve gas pressure, don't get sprayed in the face, or do it while the engine is hot.

Don't disconnect the inertia switch, simply pull the fuel pump relay from the underhood load center do this with the engine running and wait for it to stall
(this can take as long as a minute)

That way you've proved that the fuel pressure is gone.

after you turn the key off and replaced the filter remember to reinsert the relay

The inertia switch is mosty, around here, called the "turnover switch". It's job is to shut down the fuel in the event of a wreck. So if you want it off turn the vehicle upside down. That'l work.

Just push the schrader valve in and your good to go. Make sure your face isnt over it as it will spit a lil fuel up. Instant pressure relief.
