did a 4.0L motor and tranny swap from 1992 explorer to my 1988 ranger. Motor rebuilt completely. running 3.73 gears on 265/70 16 tires. Only getting 12 mpg. figured i should be getting closer to 18 or 19 mpg. 1998 ranger gets 19 around town on same motor and tires. dont know what I did wrong any help would help or ideas.

What kind of MPG were you getting when the engine was in the Explorer ? Wheel and diff combo isnt the best for MPG. Is the truck lifted? When was engine tuned last?

What RPM is the engine running at 60 mph?

motor only has 6k since rebuild.. everything was new, MAF, computer, plugs and wires. fuel pump filter, explorer was getting 22 mpg only change was diff,, it had 3.55 gear.
