I've read through the fuel injection section, looks like alot of empty holes in the build process!!! I've already done the duraspark, and motorcraft carb. Runs smooth, but with my new 33x12.50 s I sure could use a few more ponies.

I've got a block I'm starting to rebuild, going with some of the higher compression pistons and a new cam. So if I switch to the fuel injection on my rebuild I should pick up those extra horses. How hard is it to do the swap after pulling all the other junk out to do the duraspark? I've already gotten rid of the EGR valve, catalytic converter, and of course all the wiring. What about the oxygen sensors?? etc etc

Or do I find a donor and put in a 5 liter and throw a carb on the top of the thing.

The CFI or TBI unit is a "plug and play" kind of thing. You neded to be able to do some wiring and the fuel thing but other then that no biggy. I know I did it to my truck. I dont run any of the emissions stuff for the CFI unit other then the O2 sensor. Look in my build thread for more info. You have to fill some of the holes yourself such as the wiring.

went through all the pages of that build- great job!! I think I saw on one of your engine build sections the electrical hooked up on your EGR valve. With my Duraspark/ motorcraft swap I don't have an EGR valve- air pump etc. Can I still do the swap without trying to find all these items?? or do all I need is a fuel system , and oxygen sensors and I guess temp sensor to do this??

Damn fuel injection would be nice.

but I do have the Duraspark, and the Motorcraft 2150 carb that runs great, but would like the extra power and fuel milage that seems to come with fuel injections

As for my EGR, the electrical conector is hooked up but the vaccum line isnt, and thats the thig that makes it work, I'll be taking off my EGR. The guys on a thunderbird/cougar website say that it will run just fine without all the emissions stuff. But it needs the O2 sensor, temp. sensor and air temp. sensor.

My dad is going to be doing the same thing in a few months and I will make a build thread that goes into more detial on how its done, or at least how we do it.
