I’ll start this in “general discussions “, I had the weirdest fuel guage issue yesterday. Im on the way to work, had a little over 1/2 a tank the day before so I knew I should be fine on fuel, my dash is only backlit on the left side, must have a burnt out bulb or other electrical issue on right side of dash cluster so I normally cant see the fuel guage (or oil pressure) when its dark. Anyways, a car goes by my headed in the opposite direction, I catch a glimpse of the dash and see im at 1/4 tank. Normally (if im at a 1/4 tank) I will start to have running issues when I get that low on fuel like it’s lacking enough fuel pressure, it makes sence because I have a frame mounted pump drawing fuel through the stock (intermittent working) pump. Im still rolling at 60 so im good with pressure but now Im concerned I wont make it very far, I turned on the interior light and guage is gradually dropping, I didn’t have my walket with me to stop for fuel and Im a good 4 miles from a gas station, and 6 miles before I would be to work. Its raining too. I had about 140 miles on the trip meter since the last fill up (2weeks ago) and Im thinking if its not a guage Ive somehow got a bad leak. Then just as Im getting about a mile from work the guage bottoms out then goes back to just over half. I filled up this morning, took 8 gallons ( its a 20 gal tank ) so I definitely wasnt low on fuel. It is a “older” ranger (1994) so I suppose anything is possible, wiring/guage/sending unit. Just glad I didnt have to finish my morning commute on foot- and in the rain too. Any other strange guage stories out there?
