On my 88 ranger i am having to change the fuel filter. it is the canister type of filter, on the tank side of the filter one of the two ends have broke off so now not only do i have to change the filter but the entire housing that it goes in....any suggestions on this i have check all auto part stores in the area and no one has this, i can seem to find anything online with it also, it is a canister type that has 2 lines going in and 2 lines going out...you unscrew the bottom canister and put the new filter in....any help will be appreciated

how about another question.....must i use the old canister style filter or can i just use two separate inline filters....i assume one line is going to the motor and the other line is a back flow to the tank?

X2... I've had situations in the past where the fittings have been destroyed and I've just used some high pressure hose & Hose clamps to fix it. In this sitiation I would go out and buy a fuel filter with two male ends (late 80's F150s, 90's rangers, ect...), but some high pressure fuel hose, and 4 small hose clamps.

I was going to try and hook it up with the inline filters...i used two inlines and had one hooked on the main line going to the motor and the other hooked up to the back flow line going back to the tank...it cranked and ran fine except for when you try to give it gas quickly it just boggs down like it is not getting gas...as long as you slowly idle up it ran fine.... the oem canister replacement at the dealer cost about 100 bucks so i definatly dont want that, i went to the junkyard and pulled one from a wrecked ranger but its is obviously craked because when i hooked it up, gas just ran everywhere out of the canister...(saftey goggles get a big thank you) im just kindda stumped at this point on what else to try
