On my 1998 Ranger Supercab 3.0 - just in front of the spare tire - there is a device of some sort with wires going to it and at least one fuel line. Can someone tell me what this is?

Thanks, desertrat

i think its a canister, it does work with the fuel return and the tank's vapor controls and stuff

Evap canister, it keeps all the VOC's from the fuel tank from being released into the atmosphere. They are stored in the canister and then purged into the intake to be burned by the engine.

Thanks Gentlemen!! I could find no reference to that thing anywhere. Not even in the Factory Workshop Manuals. What really confused me was a friend told me I had 2 Fuel Pumps and that was an external one. I knew better than that but it really aroused my curiosity at that point.
