I just swapped motors in my 88 bronco2 with a 2.9 from a 90 ranger 2.9 i can get the motor to run when i shoot it with starting fluid or spray gas into it of course it only runs long enough to burn that off. i have checked the fuses changed both fuel pumps and the fuel pump relay and i am still not getting any fuel to the motor. any suggestions?

Have you checked the inertia switch under the dash? I assume that's where it is on the B2. That's where it is on the Rangers.

Are you getting power to the pumps? When you key on, listen for the pumps. If you can't hear a light hum, chances are they aren't getting power. If you know for sure you aren't getting fuel at the rail, that's the first step.

Ran into that exact same problem tonight..... Just swapped my new Ranger/Turbo Coupe wiring harness, went to start it, ran for about 10 seconds, then died..... Then remembered that I had unplugged my inertia switch under the hood, and only plugged it back in part way...... Unplugged it, and plugged it back in till i heard it click into place..... Truck runs beautifully now!!!!!

Check for power at the pumps. There is a connector for the one right near the driver's seat under the body, hook up a volt meter to the pink and black wire and see what you get with the key is flipped on. Should be 12V for 5 seconds. Once the engine starts cranking the computer runs the pumps off the engine rotational signal.
