fuel delivery and intake

Sorry for reposting that my phone sucks and doesn't update for shit.... why this not be helpful?

A cone filter allows for a higher POTENTIAL volume of air to be pulled in, but since your year uses the same air box for both engines, that isn't the restriction. The throttle body is likely the most restrictive part of the intake system for you.

Also, the cone systems usually pull more volume at a higher temp, which is fairly worthless because your real goal needs to be oxygen density. Since air can compress and expand so much with a little temp change is it better to have a lower volume of colder air coming in since it has a greater oxygen density.

The cylinder head is the most restrictive part of the intake system on a 2.3L, I lost 4psi of boost on my 2.3L when I ported the head, in other words it injests a lot more air than it did before...

Scott I am going to port the head like you advised but I'm also looking for other ways to improve the intake system itself

I am looking at pre-manifold restrictions, which is what the CAI systems are about removing. In those terms the throttle plate is the biggest restriction in the system. Heck, the throttle plate is the biggest restriction in the system at pretty much anything but WOT. The heads and intake valves are the biggest restriction after the plate in pretty much any engine. That is why port and polish is one of the most effective upgrades on any engine.

So then what would I be able to do to improve the throttle body?

More pedal.
