OK so I'm replacing the radiator (leaking) and all the hoses (geriatric) and also did the water pump and thermostat, while I was in there. Even though the water pump wasn't loose. 23 years and 300K miles.... who knows.
The front of the engine is just covered in oil/goo around the crank pulley. Rear main seal was leaking a few years ago, replaced while transmission being rebuilt, so figure front seal is about to puke.
Looks like pretty straightforward - unscrew nut, get special puller, then pry the seal out and replace. Thoughts? Anyone done this? Things to watch out for? 4.0 OHV.
I've got the fan clutch out right now, and radiator, so plenty of room to work. Anything to watch out for? Truck is a 97 so.... will probably hose things down with rust penetration first.
