I'm in a 1991 ford ranger 4.0 v6, When i put my 4 wheel drive in and start going i hear a buzzing in the front drivers side hub, and it wont' lock in. but when i put it in reverse the 4 wheel will work. Then i go back to forward and i hear a big clunk and it still won't work and the buzzing goes when i go foward. It souds like per turn of tire there there is a few clicks, making it when i go faster the buzzing goes faster. Any ideas? thanks

Tear it apart and find out for yourself?

Best guess would be there's too much grease/gunk in your hub for it to properly lock in or something's broken in there. :dunno:

Do you have auto locking hubs? Sounds like you do. Just so you know, auto locking hubs don't work in reverse. It's the way they are designed.

Yes they are automatic locking hubs, either my truck just works great in the mud going backwards without 4wheel drive or what haha idk, Any ideas as to what the problem could be though? do i need to just replace the hubs? or is it something else?
