Front Fuel Leak 1993 Ranger 4.0 XLT Auto

I just fnished the fuel lines, happily there are no leaks, I worked on it all day. The fuel filler tube and the upper Intake plenum will go on tomorrow. I may do the rotted shackle hangar too. I'll see how much energy I have left.

I worked on similar yesterday. Single pump conversion and all new nylon lines.

@lil_Blue_Ford @Curious Hound . I noticed there's a small gap on the intake. Is this normal? The gasket is on but it doesn't cover this space.

So this thread ends with a very happy ending. It's been awhile since she's been on the road. I drove to my sons house to drop off an extension ladder. I'm so happy that my truck is running again. You really can't live without a pickup. Thanks for all the help guys. I'm a happy camper.

Through other research online, I found this is normal. That small space about 1/8 of an inch or so doesn't go into any intake, so it's fine.

FWIW, Cutting the PTFE lines aren't that easy, however if you use a grinder with a good diamond wheel, the job gets slightly easier, and cutting it straight is a must. Installing the ferrules or olives arent too bad, as you'll have to use a dental pick to open up the braiding around the plastic to get the ferrule in good. Cutting the PTFE line with a good grinding wheel and cutting straight, is critical, it makes the job a lil better.. Patience is a virtue, no doubt....

Sorry, been incommunicado for a few days. Looks like you got it figured though.

I bought a set of the like cable cutters for AN, I’m not sure it’s the best method though but it’s less messy over the grinder.

Yeah all good, after making a few cuts for the PTFE line I got a lil better at it with the grinder wheel. Thanks again for all the input. I put a coat of wax on her yesterday.

I filled the tank up and topped it off today (maxed). After leaving the station, I had smelled gas on my way home. I went under the truck when I got in and noticed I had a small fuel leak, I didn't have this leak when the tank was 3/4 full or so.

The fuel leak area is under the tank towards the middle to rear of the tank. I'm assuming it's the evap line housing/ or hose, as it seems to be were it's coming from, on the top and running down. I'm gonna have to pop the bed off again. I was going to do it anyways in 2 weeks as I ordered supplies for the frame rust. . The leak subsided after a few minutes in the driveway. I'm thinking the the culprit is the evap gasket or evap hose connection. Again I had no leaks prior to me topping off the gas today. Any ideas?

I just started it up for a few minutes, there was no leak, so I'm thinking with the tank maxed it sloshed around during travels when I got to my driveway some gas had spilled out. I'm trying to rule out the actual fuel lines if there's a leak, but I tested those main fuel lines thoroughly before I put the bed on. So I'm targeting the evap housing or the evap line.
