Ok so I put 2" leveling spacers in on my 96 4.0 4x4, and ended up with the camber all out of whack (tires wearing on outside much faster). I took it in for an alignment at 2 different places, the first said I had a bad wheel bearing and the second said I needed a new control arm bushing (does this suspension even have control arms?). Any way my first priority is to get it aligned and all dialed in so my next set of tires wears evenly, and so snow driving will be safer. That being said I need to address the play in the wheel that has been diagnosed as 2 different things. Any suggestions before I start taking things apart?

Any insight is welcome I've not done any suspension work before.

Thanks.

yeah you have RADIUS arms, not control arms, but same difference IMO.

if you have play in the wheel you have slack somewhere in the steering, probably a bad tie rod end somewhere.

wheel bearing won't put play in your steering wheel. find the issue, fix it.. have someone sit in the Ranger and wiggle the steering side to side slightly and you look under it to see where the slack is.
if you can't figure that out... take it to a reputable shop and hope they are honest with you on what you need.
