I Just recently noticed that i have almost a quarter turn of play in the front driveshaft. i havent had this ranger very long its a 98 3.0 with 5 inch suspension on it and i am used to jeeps so is this much play normal in the independent front ends?

I dont think it is normal, but i would check the troubleshooting section of the tech pages or perhaps one of the install pages. They normally lsit the max amount of play you should have.

Mine has about that before the hubs lock in fully and the wheels stop the shaft from moving. I think the front ends get a bit more play because there are more connections to go through before you hit a hard stop (pinion, ring, spider, shaft, hub, then wheel instead of Pinion, ring, spider, shaft splines wheel).
