I am getting ready to order 4.56 gears for my Ranger. There is a note that the front Yukon ring gear is for 3/8" bolts. The limited information I have found indicates the D35 hybrid has 3/8" bolts but I want to make sure before ordering the gears.

Can anyone verify the Ranger D35 hybrid has 3/8" ring gear bolts?

I can't answer your question about the bolts, but a 2002 Ranger doesn't have a D35 "hybrid," it's just a regular D35.

I'm pretty sure the "hybrid" D35 used a D28 ring gear and special housing, and regular D35 beams/outer parts. And that was only on early 90's TTB trucks and not many at that.

But yeah, for a 2002 it should be regular low pinion Dana 35 gears as you would use in the rear. Shouldn't use any special bolts/parts.

Yes, I mean the D35 SLA (or IFS). I know it is not the standard D35 or I could install a selectable OX locker in it. Our D35 uses a different housing and cover than the standard D35 which is used on the rear of a jeep. I am also aware that 97 and earlier Rangers use a reverse rotation D35 while the 98 and later use a standard rotation D35.

I forgot about the D35 hybrid that uses the D28 gears and carrier.

I still would like to know if my D35 SLA uses 3/8" bolts.

Being that the SLA D35 uses the same gears as a Jeep rear D35, I would say the chances of the bolts being the same size are almost guaranteed. I think pretty much any installation kit you buy will include new bolts anyway.

That is pretty much what I thought but just wanted verification so my installer doesn't run into a problem.
