Been lurking for a few days and can't really find what I need so here's my deal. I am helping a buddy fix up his '96 Ranger XLT 4.0. His front diff has a HUGE hole in it :shok:, and the pinion yoke is frozen. We can't find any used front ends anywhere been looking for a long time so here is what I am looking at, I want to make sure I have the right part. Here is the housing, I got the part no. from here, I know it says IFS but if you look at the picture it's a TTB, either way should be the same housing right? we are also replacing bearings and stuff.
Thanks

What gear ratio do you have? I have a perfect housing and carrier I'd be willing to sell you. I might have an extra set of 3.27's laying around if that's the gear ratio you need.

Hey great, It's a 3.27 as far as I can tell, the tag is gone. We counted the teeth and got 49/15 but I can't find any documentation that shows those tooth counts. How much? BTW I'm new to the Rangers what's the carrier?

The carrier is the piece that the ring gear bolts to.

Oh haha got it, is it best to replace both at same time? I think our carrier is fine so how much you looking for on the housing? or both?

The door sticker will give you the diff ratio
