i have a 97 ranger and was thinking about putting a front clip from a newer ranger on there can i just buy fenders and a grill from LMC truck and bolt them on or is it alot of work?

I've heard you don't need the radiator support. It just makes things easier. Also, your bumper will work with the newer front end, just wont look right. You will also need a hood latch, your latch will NOT work with the newer hood. Make sure you get brackets for the fenders if applicable and new brackets for the header panel too. Most "new" parts won't come with it, I recommend JY parts when you can get them. Hood hinges are the same.

I needed everything from the header panel forward, and the hood. Put an 01 Edge front end on my 98. Though in your case you'll need fenders too...
And the bumper won't mount to your frame without a lil fab work, but I got an 04 xlt bumper on my 94, it was easy.

does anyone know if 04-05 grill will fit on a 08? im getting ready to start my 97 to 08 conversion too. check out partsgeek.com for some of the parts. their prices were the best i could find for aftermarket parts. ive got a 01-03 primered edge hood if your looking for one.
