Check out my front bumper I built for my 93 ranger and let me know what you think. I started out with 5x5 1/4 wall square tube, cut it to 5'. Cut out the angles with a 4 1/2" cutoff wheel and cut plate to fit, welded it in, used 2.5x2.5 1/4 wall for the receiver in the center, and on the inside I welded 2h heavy nuts for tow hooks for lighter pulls, and hella lights, used 3" channel for the mounts and gusseted it to the bumper for extra strength, as far as mounting it I am going to take some 1/4" plate drill 3 1/2" holes through it, weld 3 pieces of 1/2" sch 80 pipe as crush sleeves that will go through the frame and weld to the opposite side of the frame rail so a 1/2" bolt can go through each, I'm thinking a 3"x4" piece and that would be welded to the frame plus the pipe to the opposite side, hopefully that will be strong enough, the stock mounts were bent from the tow hooks being mounted to it. Well what do you think of it? I am going to herculine it and then paint it a gray color.

as far as mounting it to the frame i would cut off the stock bumper brackets an take some pipe an where the crush zone is i would bolt in there.. this way the pipe helps the frame from crushing an you now have a sold mounting spot for your bumper an dont have to do a ton of work.

other than that clean bumper great job!

well thanks everyone for the comments! makes all that time with the grinder not feel like such a waste! I need to get me a torch...or a plasma cutter....lol

Oh for sure, I'd love to get a plasma cutter. Cutting wheels aren't cheap when you need a million of them!

Nice, need to work on the garage now, lol.

lol yeah...i accidently burnt the old one down...along with my jeep wrangler inside, and my 99 ranger parked really close and nobody could find the keys...ranger survived...barely...2 weeks later it was totalled out when some jackass passed coming overtop of a hill and was in my lane and forced us into the back of a semi =/ oh well I guess I have a new ranger

Nice work! Need a job? If I could only get my employee's to fab like that, I'd have more time to drink rum and coke and play bossman for a change!

well done sir.
can't wait to see it on the truck.
