Front bumper for an 06 ranger ext cab

Yes i am new to this site,,i have been driving rangers since 92 and now i have an 06 2.3L ranger extended cab bone stock 2 wheel drive. Does anyone know if an earlier model ranger front bumper will match up from the junk yard...

Hi and welcome to TRS~!

Well, the 96 bumper is a big heavy old beast that would be ideal to swap out for an older and lighter version...I have a bumper from 92 that I thought I could just bolt on...but they are not exactly the same width apart at the frame...a gen I (83-88) bumper might be easier to fit, but they are almost like tinfoil compared to the 92 and 96...

Not sure if I'd recommend a gen I to be honest...I like bumpers that are going to take a bit of abuse and stand up to it...

Fitting the bumper is still a challenge for me, mostly because I don't have a welder...so if you have access to one and don't mind hacking things up a bit...go with 89-92 bumper...

I had the 96 bumper on my 88 but did a serious hack job on it to remove some weight for my tired 2.3...it worked out pretty good...just had to cut some bolt holes...anything can be done with a welder and a bit of skill...
