So, I'm aware that my 7.5 rear axle will not be able to support the 33's I want to run, and that I should upgrade to the 8.8. My question is about the front axles, should anything be changed there?\

This is in regards to a '92 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4 with 2.9

I wouldn't have been as worried about the 7.5 as the front. (if you have the D28)

If you have the D35, then 33's should be about the limit for reliable on it.

Don't forget to make sure the gear ratios are the same front and rear!!

The D28 was not used on '92 models, so unless a PO has swapped it, you should have the D35 up front.

The D35 is generally good up to 35" tires with a few simple mods.
The 7.5" should be good to 33" tires, though if you carry heavy loads and/or tow much, I'd for sure suggest the swap to a 31-spline 8.8" (Explorer axle).

If you have the D35, it will do fine with up to 35's.

The 8.8 is a big upgrade over the 7.5, but not the greatest axle on the planet by any means. Unless you already have a 8.8 on hand or got one for a smokin deal, I would look for a 9". But thats just my opinion and I have destroyed a couple over the years.
