Hi, I'm new here, obviously. Have a 2004 Ranger, 4x4 that I'd like to lower due to physical limitations. It's just too hard to climb up into it.

It's easy to find stuff to lower a 2x4, or raise a 4x4, but I need to lower a 4x4. Told you I had unusual preferences! :icon_confused:

Low profile tires would help but does reduce ground clearance.

Lowering frame/body reduces suspension travel, and tire size would have to be smaller as well, so you still lose some ground clearance.

So tire size would have to be dealt with in any case so I would start there.
I would see how tall the tires you have now are.
Could be as much 31" now, every 2 inches smaller = 1 inch closer to the ground for the cab

You could even look at air and/or hydraulic suspension that would drop the truck down when parked, then raise back up for driving, $$$$$$$

And not for nothing, sentimental reasons aside, you could probably find someone with a 2WD ranger that would do a swap with you, maybe you'll end up with a year or two newer ranger, assuming 4WD is not a necessity for you
