Well my buddy just picked up a 85 yota with a 22re yesterday, was said to have rebuilt 25,000 miles ago. My friend decides he wants to go up in the woods for a bit, he tried a couple trails and was lifting the tires so he was revving it around 4-5k, we went to head back and we heard a very bad noise, and to me it sounded like a really bad rod knocking, we didnt have a flashlight so he drove it back to our buddies house (against my advice) where I had my rig, on the way the charging light came on and lights were getting dim so I figured it was something belt/pulley/accesory related, we get back and we popped the hood to find the belts there but no spinning. The crank pulley bolt came loose and the front seal blew out and blew oil everywhere. We tourqed it back down and started it and the oil leak stopped but the noise was still there, from crawling underneath it sounds like its coming from the bellhousing/clutch area, wierd how 2 things like this happen at once, any ideas? I didnt find an inspection plug/cover to remove to take a look so I tole him he have to pull the tranny. I have no experiance with yotas so help is appreciated.

oh no i hope that oil pressure dident drop enough to ruin bearings when the pully came off and squirted oil.try checking oil pressure if it has a gauge or hook one up to the block temporarily to double check.on the other hand maybe they left bolts loose in the bellhousing also but it sounds like bye bye bearings.if everything turns out ok ide still want to retork everything i could get my hands on like head bolts, etc.

It should still have had oil pressure, the dipstick just barely had oil on it and we filled it up with oil before we restarted it, also the noise all but goes away when the clutch is pushed in...
