freeze plu help

1st post here although I have visited the site numerous times. Anyhow have a bad freeze plug on driver side, think its the forward one. Need to know if anyone has changed one out with the engine in the frame. What all has to be removed I am thinking motormount, maybe the steering shaft? Also what parts on the inner fender are easy to get at so that it can be removed for access.

I have a BL on mine and I didnt have to remove anything. I just used a socket on a swivel with a loooong extension and pounded it home.

First, you need to do a leak check with a radiator pressure tester to see which one is leaking or how many are leaking. This you do through the radiator with a pressure gauge tool. Even if only one is leaking and they are all the original freeze plugs or all very old, than I would replace them all. They are easy to replace....just a pain to get to a few of them.

I don't know how everyone manages to do 'em in the vehicle that says they're easy...

I fought with one on my choptop, could not get it hammered in right even though I had decent access with the front tire off. I ended up buying a rubber expandable plug and used that. I think they're really supposed to be more of a temporary fix, but it lasted just fine until the engine died of natural causes.
