A4LD Problem Thread

Ok so I read through the post above, but I still have a question. I have a 94--(its a 1993 dumb fat fingers) 3.0 4x4 with the A4LD- cruzing speed on the freeway 65 MPG I am running about 3,000-3,200 Rpm. Do you think that this is high? If you have one whats your RPM's at? Thanks for your info..

Sounds way to high. I'm around 2,500 rpm.

Count how many gears you shift into. If it's not shifting after 45 or 50 into a lower gear (Over drive) then it sounds like overdrive is gone.

On my old truck, It has a vac solenoid but I think your 94 is new enough to where it's electronically controlled? Hopefully someone can help answer the OD question..

Yes, it sounds high.

What tires size and gear ratio do you have?

I have done the old counting trick on the way home last night- Yep no overdrive :annoyed:

3.73 gears- tires I am assuming 235/75/15's but I am not 100%

hate u bring up a old threat but i have a 94 ranger and i have 25 inch tires and 373. gears how high should me rpms be?

well im turning 2500 at 55 so that means something is wrong right????

Count the gears. If you only go into 3, then the OD isn't working.

Otherwise, if it shifts down at about 45-50 into OD, then it's your gearing.

Or his speedo/tach are off, it's not uncommon.

speedometer if right byt gps and tach is right by snapon scaner. i think it going into 4 because if i pull it down it will shoot up to 3000 rpms when i had 3.45 gears it stilled turnied really high rpms else

im trying to fix it this weekend. you u guys change the toqure conveter or could it be the lock-up seniold in the trans is there anyway to change this without changing parts on them???????

when your crusing take the truck in and out of o.d. using the button or shifter. U know for sure what gear your in then. It might just be the torque converter not locking. Try a manual locking switch to make it lock.

ik its going into overdrive and cause if i pull it into drive the rpms shoot up. i brought a seniold and im gonna drop the pan and seee if i seee anything wrong and if i dont im gonna put a torque converter and see if that fixes it i guesss??

i put a torque convtere in it and still no lock-up :/ anybody got any ideas?
