free scanner ?

Are there any free scanner programs not just code reader programs for my comp to use a usb to obd2 cable and get live data feed from my truck? im having trans problems and had a friend use the solus scanner but i would like to just set up a shop comp or laptop with some nice programs that would be able to scan. Also is there any tuning software that i could get to tune the truck?

Your best bet is to buy a SCT XCalibrator II. It comes with software to data log and you have a programmer/code reader in 1.

I have just started researching this same topic. I came across a thread that mentioned moates quarterhorse. I checked their site and there IS free programs like you're wanting but I can't say anything good or bad as I don't have the knowledge to form an opinion. I'm going to check mrjonesjr suggestion next. Keep updating this thread with what you find and I'll try to do the same. Of course I'm new to this computer stuff so it may take me a while, i'm betting it's a steep learning curve.
edit; it seems the sct... is for '96 up, no good to me.
