I just did a free mod that has the potential to give around 10hp. I took the baffle out of the hard tube coming from the air box going to the intake. It looks like a RPG round in my opinion. I unhooked the positive battery cable so the computer reset itself so it didnt throw any codes. Took it out for a test drive and it "seems" to have better take off. I will keep you posted to see if it is a fluke or a positive change. I will also make attempts to track fuel mileage changes if any. Next step will be considering 17lb injectors. According to my research, I can go up to stage 2 17lb injectors without changing anything else. Not sure if it is wise to keep the stock fuel pump? I may decide to upgrade the pump to allow for less strain.

Real dyno numbers, not butt dyno numbers. If it gave a 10% boost in HP don't you think Ford would've done it out the gate?

Why are you changing injectors? Ford paid someone alot of money to figure out which ones work, and you're going to go and mess that up?

I did that with my 99 2.5L. I noticed a small difference. The reason Ford put it on is without it the truck is loud at idle.

Yeah the mod might actually help... I did it a week ago and it feels better, the reason ford left it on is to reduce air noise into the intake and to decrease the amount of dirt and water that can freely flow into the box...

I'm putting mine back on just cause I don't feel safe driving it around like that, but it definately gave the exhaust a different tone, which means the engine was pulling more air...

i did it too, it improved a bit, but mostly just the intake has a deep growl when going at full gas.

Well, I enjoyed the feel today when my 4 banger climbed the hill on I 75 today. Usually it bogs down and I can hold the pedal to the floor and it just laughs at me. Today was a whole new story. The truck responded a lot better at higher RPM due to more air able to enter. The truck is a great highway vehicle now. Not sure about the safety with the water like you said, but I also dont plan on taking through a swamp anytime either:) I didnt notice any extra noise though, just the same amount I heard before removing the tube baffle. I have to say it was a nice mod that I will continue to evaluate and use for a few weeks to see how it helps or hurts my driving habits.

he meant about water on his 2.5 it has a different intake setup. a lil watter is gonna spill in the air filter box inlet, but nothing to worry that much8if u dont cross rivers and such) if u removed the inlet tubing.
on the 2.5 u need to remove a rubber "box" located on the header panel behind the headlight, thats basically the intake silencer on the 2.5, not like the tube baffle u removed.

where you removed the giant dildo on your intake i installed my maf in that bend, used a contour 2.0 air filter adapter and put a round air filter on it. hella difference at high rpm and very loud under the hood but very much worth it.
