Yep, my dad was a snowbird who spent his winters in South Florida (Lake Worth). When he was up north his Taurus was always garaged. After he passed I inherited it and was surprised at the rust on it.
I forget where I read it, but garaging your car in the winter isn't necessarily a good idea. It allows humidity to stay around the car. The garage keeps heat in. Allowing the body to warm to above freezing (32*F) is the worst thing you can do to your car, if you want to minimize rust.
