Hello,
I have a 1997 Ford Ranger 4cyl 2WD, overall the truck is in great shape and has little rust. Recently I have been noticing a strange squeaking noise coming from under the hood near the right wheel well. Upon inspection, I noticed some rot in a small part of the frame. Based on the pictures I posted, what would be the best course of action for repairing my truck? The reason it looks we is because I sprayed some pb blaster on it to stop the squeaking noise.

Looks like a body mount is rotting from one of those images...can't really place the location for the others unless they are just different views...

Anyway, best shortest solution is to remove what rust you can with a wire brush and shoot it with a rust converter...

Best longest solution is to take it apart and find out just how badly it has spread...remove all the rust with whatever you have or can get like wire wheels and chisels...even removing and replacing the body mount if it is too far gone and hitting it with rust converter and or primer paint and or rubber guard once it is all sealed.

And then take a really good look at the rest of the frame/cab and take care of that asap...

Rust will take it out in a few years if you let it go...if you wannakeepit (name of a rust protection product...true!) you gotta sweep it~

Tbh, the rest of the frame is fine surprisingly since I live in Massachusetts. Also, all of the pictures are of the same area. This is the only bad rust on the truck. Would it be worth it to clean up the area, rust convert it,JB Weld the crack, and then put a final layer of paint over it?
