Ok sorry to beat a dead horse I'm sure but my grandfather left me his ranger last year when he passed so I really do not want to get rid of it. it is a 01 xcab xlt that is 2 wheel drive. Living in MA and having other vehicles to drive I would really like to make it 4 wheel. From what I have researched that is pretty much the worse starting point to do it with so I have 2 options

1.) do a solid front with leafs, if any one has a link to a complete weld in kit for one I would look a little harder at this option but I think it is more then I need.

2,) find a wrecked 01 (or whatever similar years) truck and swap my body on to the frame, which is what I think I would be happy with

I don't mind spending a little bit of money if I have to, but I think swapping the frame is the way to go. Obviously I am going to have to do wiring harnesses (wouldn't mind upgrading to a 4.0 either) but should everything else bolt right up? Has anyone done cab swaps on a ranger and have any tips and does anyone have any options on either of the two options.

it depends on your front suspension.
if its torsion bars you already have the 4wd frame, just need the 4wd parts
that's a simplified answer of course.

if you have front coils its swap and fabrication time.

I'd say it's a ass load more work body swapping if the truck already runs leave alone under the hood one thing at a time what I mean by that is find the trans and t case your gonna run and swap that then once it's all done and working as it should move to the front axle get that build and setup/installed etc

Truck runs coils, the 3.0 is low milage and I would swap it out in the current truck, trans and tcase are easy to deal with I was just wondering more about getting the front axle to work and if someone made a complete kit and what I would have to do to the read to make it sit level, I want to run 33" tires
