hey all, So cruising around today something caught my eye. I found a 1972 IH Scout II for sale. The owner wants $4900 for it. I was wondering what everyone thought was a fair price to pay for it. The body is in good shape except for the typical rust in the corners. The frame has a lot of surface rust but seems solid. There is a transmission leak (Fluid was all over the ground) Interior was in great shape (only problem was a torn seat). There was various other rust spots but overall was solid. It says that It runs but I wouldn't be able to investigate it any farther until Monday. So what do you all think?

SWEET!!! If you can spare the change you should get it. There is a place on Route 4 just west of Springfield, OH that is owned by a couple of former IH employees. It seems they bought out EVERYTHING that was left when IH stopped producing them. They sell parts and even restore old ones to like new. Scouts are one tough old vehicle. You can't go wrong with one.

I love scouts. Rust on body is worst issue though. Fix it and line x it all. Love them though I want an IH pickup.

Just finding one with as little rust as it has makes it a great find....the price is about 1500 too high IMHO.:dunno:

I would rock that six ways to sunday. awesome find!

I was thinking it was worth somewhere around $3000. I'm trying to coax my dad into going in on it with me. He's starting to have the scout grow on him. I guess I have to wait and see what he decides. Thanks for the input

The one I had looked great, problem was that the floor boards were gone, gas tank fell out when the straps rusted thru, door fell off when pivot pin brroke. Check pretty careful living in the rust belt.

That's the plan. Thanks for the trouble areas to check. Any others besides the usual?
