I just ran across an Offy 6007 manifold for $250. It’s in fabulous shape. Everything I’ve read says it’ll fit my new long block, checking with the engine builder to be sure......

I used one on a 2.8 I built for a friend and installed in his Sunbeam, it worked great with a 390cfm Holley. I found it at a swap meet labelled as a 2.8 chevy manifold and ended up buying it for $125 after explaining what it actually was. That had to have been 10 years ago. I just built a 351 for my Ranger with a dual port manifold that I bought at Carlisle this summer including a 600 Holley of dubious history and a mismatched 1" spacer, also for $125.

Yep! Says it’ll fit!! Now, what next? I’ve got a long block, built by race shop. If I throw the 4bbl on, mild cam? Headers? Nows the time boys, I don’t wanna over tax the A4LD, but nothing wrong with a little more power...:p

the 6097t is 259 new at summit.

the work ok with the older dizzy.

You can plane the heads a lot on a 2.8, If I remember right I had .030" shaved off. Comp had 3 cams for a 2.8 and I used the middle one with no valve clearance problems.

get a fresh converter and convert the a4ld to pressure switching and manual override for l/u and 4...

That’s already in the plan. Thanks for the tip. Going pressure switching route. I found an old school OG trans guy that’s prolly 75. Has a meticulous little shop in his garage. He’s gonna help me rebuild the trans for $150. Have a new converter sitting on the shelf.

The builder did the whole deal, heads were shaved, block decked. Compression is up but I can’t remember what the build sheet said.

or does he already have piles of stuff laying around? 75....yeah...probably giving shit away....nevermind...

I was gonna try it by myself, but I’m stressed for time lately fixing other people’s shit. He’s gonna be my Obi Wan on the rebuild, I bought a master kit with all the best internals. I’ve built a couple of AODs and a C4 & C6 but that was a loooong time ago. Figure if I’m too time stressed I’ll throw him a couple bucks more and let him do it. I want this truck done by spring!! If I keep finding stuff I’ll never finish! Any opinion on headers?

never finished.....just the way i roll....

Car n truck projects are never ever finished. When my late wife asked in desperation if I was ever gonna finish my first Mustang, the answer cost me months of consortium........ You either die or ending up selling them for pennies on the $$....

Found a NOS Holley 390 on eBay. Photos show it’s pristine, gave $220 for it.....

in the 4.0 L section I posted a link to a pdf about build V6 colonge engines. take a look through there for ideas.

and you can look here for custom grinds on the stock bump stick. did this stuff to the 2.8 in mt pinto. was going to go the same route with a 4bbl offy also. had the ford aerostar 2.8 headers also. never did install the kit to the pinto. after talking to the custom grind shop (30 miles from me) we decided that the 2 barrel would be enough for the 5500 grind he gave me.

check it out www.coltcams.com

cheers

Couldn’t find the pdf, scanned thru all your posts...I got a Stage 1 Comp Cams bump stick, can’t find any headers anywhere, so I’m gonna build my own. Sent the drawing off to a laser cut shop for a set of header flanges.
