He was a decent man.

RIP

I was too young to really know about his presidency or care. I do remember us, as a class, walking across the bridge from New Brighton to Beaver Falls to hear him speak in front of the library. I'm guessing it was a campaign stop. So, I can't comment on the quality of his Presidency outside of what history has recorded of it.

100 years is a good run, regardless of what kind of President he was.

Peanuts must be pretty good for you.

Perhaps a mediocre president. Not great. Not horrible. I definitely admire him for his humanitarian work, especially through Habitat For Humanity. I have even taken part in several HFH builds and enjoyed taking part.

Agreed. I have done several panel builds and siding for hfh. Great charity. And Jimmy had his heart in the right place in his decades since his presidency.

Great, now I get to look forward to another traffic jam. Hopefully they'll announce the funeral procession ahead of time this time, they didn't for his wife. The day that Roselyn's procession came through my work was basically cut off from my home. If I hadn't left work early for something else I'd have been sitting there for hours waiting for it to pass and traffic to clear back up, because local police shut down the roads on the planned route early and everyone was gathering round the parking lots and street corners to watch it. If they tell us early enough I might just stay home that day.

From what I know of him he was a great person, but what I hear is that he was not a great president. I wasn't alive during the Carter administration to know first hand. From what I can tell, as a president he wasn't any worse than any other president that his party has provided in the last 40 years. I'd definitely take him over the one they provided for the last 4 and were trying to provide for the next 4.

He tanked the economy, gutted the military, and inflation and interest rates were at an all-time high, worse than Biden. I was around for that, I'm old.
Not to worry, he'll still vote straight Democrat in the next several elections.

The policies that caused the inflation were in effect long before Jimmy Carter was in office.

I’m sorry guys, but we need to nip this political bit I think…

No politics here. I really appreciate Habitat for Humanity. Helped ut with a build and have donated and bought from their stores.

Yes but it got worse under his administration. I'm old, I remember the 70's.

I voted for him because during the debate Gerald Ford said there was no Soviet domination of Eastern Europe and wouldn't be during a Ford administration. I remember 18% inflation and a 10 3/4% mortgage that could have gone to 14 3/4 but thankfully didn't. He did some good stuff in retirement just the same.

politics aside, I was 5 years old when he became president. What I do remember from my parents was the inflation and the rest of the world (islam extremists etc) just walking all over him. so yeah, not a great president, but his humanitarian efforts afterwards were top notch. I just got to think that world leadership and politics were not his forte, but he was a great humanitarian, and I personally am grateful for his contributions to America post presidency.
