My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.
Somebody take me to transfer case school. And skip the kindergarden version.

I want to convert the dually (96 obs crew cab) to 4wd with a manual shift t-case that wont interfere with my center console. I had considered a push button but no neutral position.

The t-case in 93-00 chebby 1ton duallies is driver side drop and manual shift and heavy duty...... could that work with an E4od?

different input spline and different bolt pattern on the flange,as well as pilot diameter....but otherwise ok.

just get a manual ford f 350 case...the shifter's off to the side pretty far, most likely won't interfere with your console.plus,it's got a pto port should you ever need one.

Have you managed to put any of the 6 available pto ports on your ranger to use yet?

nope.

i've got pto drives for most of them sitting on the shelf...just haven't really needed to use them for anything.

by the way, nice counting on the 6...most people would not have got the two on the zf.

If i had one laying around id find an excuse to run it. In fact i have looked for them and can't find used ones in working condition. Chelsea wants somewhere around 1300 for a new one. So i just won't run one.

let anyone that has anything to do with trucks or farm equipment know what you're up to....sometimes the things will just show up.

i've got a pile of them, gave a bunch away so i'd just have what i may find a use for hanging around...and i never paid a dime for any of them.good old fashioned networking does wonders for finding all kinds of things...as long as you're patient.had about half a dozen pto winches land in my hands the same way.found people that needed those more than i did,as well.

Well thanks for the reply, guess I will use the Ford t-case

no problem.
those cases are common as dirt.it helps that you have a '96,as this one didn't use a speed sensor on the tailshaft.earlier ones can be used on your truck by just not hooking the sensor up.the other way around gets a bit trickier.

i have a '94 and '96 crewcab, and the shifter for thr t-case comes out where the bottom of the trans tunnel meets the floor,so it's pretty out of the way.i don't know what you have for a console, but i'd be surprised if it gets in the way.

the bigger job will be changing your transmission to accept the t-case.the front diff is a bolt-in.

I am thinking coil sprung D60........ Do I need to change the transmission or can I remove the tail housing from the E4od? The transmission in it now is a raptor rebuild with 4R100 guts.

the tailhousing needs to be changed...but that's the easy part.the tailshaft has to be changed as well, and that means completely dismantling the trans.it's easier just to swap in a good 4x4 trans.
