hey guys,

doing an overhaul on the truck. need some advise. I have to replace the following parts.

Front rotors
front inner and outer bearings
lower ball joints. only one is bad but ill do both since im lifting.
shocks

now, i was thinking OEM, but id love to save money and go with NAPA.

ive been given the parts at shop cost, with a total of $420.78 plus tax.

im sure napa rotors/hubs are good. question is about their ball joints part#: 260-1460, and the bearings, which are SKF. any good?

running 32's on offset rims, so i need a bearing thats gonna take the abuse.

thanks guys. also if you know any good brands and where to grab them, ill look into them.

oh also quick rant:

WHY THE HELL DOESNT RANCHO MAKE FRONT SHOCK FOR COIL!

rant over.

Aside from spark plugs, oil and oil filters which are available from parts stores/wally world the only time I go to the dealer for parts is when nobody else makes it.

Get the better stuff and you should be fine.

All the parts that you will recieve from NAPA are made within the manufacture's specifications. If not better.

Agreed on the parts gotten from the dealer. The problem I seem to run into with the dealer is that either the part I'm looking for isn't made anymore or it's not in stock and they have to order it! I guess that happens when you get into vehicles that are 20+ years old. But still, you would think parts like flywheel bolts and ujoint bolts would be something that would stretch accross many years and would be pretty common.

To the OP, look for the magic words on the box: "Made in China" sometimes they use ROC or Taiwan instead of China but it's all the same. That's the parts to stay clear from. These parts are generally produced at the lowest possible cost without regard to anyone's safety, including yours!

well i know the bearings are made in the next town to me, so ill give them a try. ill double check, but pretty sure napa is all american made parts.

SKF are a quality bearing. No problem there. Use them all the time where I work for the past 20+ years. As someone above said, Napa parts, and most other part houses parts are designed to meet or exceed OEM, so there is no problem there either. Good luck with your project!

I also got rotors from Napa that were made in China, so far so good and they are wearing evenly with no cracks or warping yet. Been on the truck for over a year now.

I bought my rotors from Napa & the "made in china" was stamped on box.....I believe I paid about 50 bucks apiece-

yea the ones im getting are list $141.88 EACH. but im paying 92.53 each :yahoo:

sold the napa store owner a car. gives me napa cost on EVERYTHING :)

ok sounds good, ill order my parts.

but as for an offroad front shock, WTF?? in not finding anything

I'm not really sure of the OEM quality. I had to replace the pads and rotors in two trucks with under 60K miles on them. Last time the shop was able to turn the rotors and I went with the ceramic pads. Lot of people go with MOOG for any suspension part. SKF has always been a good bearing. Shocks? Guess I'm going to need some like that soon also. Post back how everything goes.

Im running Reflex shocks on my 250 and i had Superlift shocks on the last one. Both are good.

the munroe reflex are decent? how are they compared to the rancho rs5000? im trying to balance the shocks. hard in the back soft up front give me one hell of a ride!

how are they offroad?

i'm not scared of anything from napa, now----- some of the autozone stuff i'm scared of! lol. but napa has good quality stuff.
