ford really is retarded

I've been looking at ford.com to ponder how to build my ranger.

Apparently, I can only get a ranger with a 4.0, M5OD, and 4.10 locking rear if I shell out for 4WD. It's not like there isn't a 2WD M5OD.


Theyre either worried about being sued for building a quick vehicle (like there aren't faster trucks out there), trying to gouge me for more money (likely), or off in some mental fog (equally likely). And WTH was with manual 4.0 rangers not being available til mid year?


They wonder why they're losing customer base.....not giving the customer what they want, telling owners to pee up a rope when spark plugs blow out of the heads of 5.4 engines.....

i agree.while getting my blown out 5.4 spark plug repaired i looked at rangers,then went on line to build one.couldn't get the killer pioneer system with a manual tranny,wth?

i hope they know how to sell cars,because they way they are about rangers surprised they manage to sell any.
 
Few people want a manual transmission anymore, so they are not as common coming off the line.

It would be truely stupid for them to pump out a product that nobody wants.
 
Uhm, the plug poppers not only included the 5.4, but the 4.6, and the 6.8. Any engine from the Trition line.

Now back to the regularly scheduled Ford bashing.
 
The only 4.6's that were effected came from the Windsor plant, which are rare (and plugs blowing out of any of them are not all that common either) Romeo 4.6's (the vast majority) are pretty much immune to it.

That was only for 2 valve engines, now they have completly redesigned the cylinder heads.

it was easy to get the manual tranny,just not with the 300 watt pioneer system.i must be one of the few because i would have to have the manual tranny before i laid down a sig on the loan papers.
 
In my opinoin they need to pull their heads out of their asses and put a little more money into the Ranger.

A fuel efficient mid-sized truck would do wonders for Ford.

Add an option of a diesel and they will sell like hot cakes.

Start coming back with the high-rider option, and you've got a nice off the shelf 4x4......

The first and last new car my dad bought was a '76 Volare Road Runner, with a 360 and 4-speed... but if you look it up none were ever built. My dad told the dealership he wanted that engine and that tranny in that car or he was going with a different brand of car. The next day he got a call they could do it, it did have a 318 vin once he got it though. He watched them drive it off the truck and checked it out before he signed anything... it was all done at the factory, it was indeed a 360 and a 4-speed.

Some things can be done no matter what the book says, and the internet "build your truck" things are not the most accurate things in the world either.
 
Uhhh... Can I be absolutely honest about something?

in a 2wd 4.0SOHC 5sp truck you don't really want 4.10 gears

4.10's won't be any quicker and infact probably slower than an
identical truck with 3.73's.

Fod might not sell you what you ask for, but...

understand what your saying.

my brother had a volare w/the slant six.neat car,just would not get out of its own way.a 360 would have been nice.

i had a 74 360 duster,red w/white stripe running back to large 360 numbers on the rear quater panels.i got more tickets with that thing,had a carter thermo quad,purple cam and dual glasspacks.

the neighbors hated it and me.

The reason you can't get the Pioneer system with manual tranny is because the Pioneer system has a big center console that houses the subwoofer that goes right where the manual shifter would go.
 
In that case, I want a Regular Cab Ranger with a M5OD, a Manual Shift T-case, Manual Hubs and a 4.0L SOHC.

Call me when it's ready.

you're right,and i figured that out looking through the book.guess they had no where else to put it.
