I know it is early but I am looking for a set of rims for winter tires.
I am not sure if I shoudl get 2 or 4. This will be my second winter with the Ranger and I did have one day last year where my all season radials didn't do the trick. I have a 2 wheel drive and only pavement driving.
I am not in a rural area so city streets are the normal drive.
What is your experience?

Last year was first year without a 4x4 so I put a full set of the Firestone Blizzaks on my 4x2 (open rear end) and had no trouble. I do live out in the country but was sure to put about 500 lbs of sand in the bed. Usually best to go to a narrower width for the Winter, called "pizza cutters" by here.

I am in the Niagara Region. I am retired so I usually don't "have to be there by" . If the snow is too deep I don't go out. I had one day last year where I was on my way to hockey and could not get up an overpass. I guess with some weight in the back and the tires it would have been no problem.
What I am wondering is if the added expense of front snow tires and rims will be needed?

you don't have to spring for winter rims if you dont want to, although then you have to pay install fees every time you change the tires. tires on the front are worth the money because they will allow you to brake and steer properly in the winter.
